A few folks have asked about who operates
SavethePotomac.org .....

It was designed as a volunteer effort and is maintained by Kevin J. Coyle, a resident of
Reston, Virginia and long-time river enthusiast.  He relies on his river friends for moral
support and data.

Kevin is an attorney and former executive of the National Park Service where he managed
the Wild and Scenic Rivers planning program and the Land and Water Conservation Fund
for the  Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. He later was CEO of the American Land
Resource Association and publisher of the award-winning journal,
American Land Forum.
From there, he became program director, President and CEO of American Rivers, the
nation's principal river conservation organization.  He was also a founding board member of
River Network, a national organization set up to  help organize and support grassroots
watershed conservation NGO's .

In 1996, Kevin became the President and CEO of the National Environmental Education and
Training Foundation, a congressionally authorized NGO charged with bringing
environmental literacy and competence to American and international business leaders, the
media, the U.S. health-care system, public land managers and teachers.

Potomac river-wise, Kevin is a trustee of the Potomac Conservancy and immediate past
chair.  He is also a new member of the board of the Alice Ferguson Foundation.  He was
also a trustee on the Natural Resource Council of America from 1991 to 2001 and served
as its chairman for four years.
