Special Opportunity: To Save Rare Plants --  Bear Island, Potomac
Gorge,
AUGUST 16-18 (near Great Falls). One of the worst invasive plants in our region
is Japanese stiltgrass (which is threatening rare plant species in the Potomac Gorge. The
Nature Conservancy is helping the National Park Service recruit weed control volunteers for
full-day (9 - 4) or half-day (9 - 12, 1 - 4) shifts.  They need up to 15 volunteers per shift to pull
stiltgrass.  To sign up, please email
